The Burbank International Film Festival will present a full day of free Industry Seminars and Panels at Woodbury University on Saturday, March 30, from 10 a.m.—6 p.m. as part of its educational outreach program. This event is designed to educate, entertain, and inspire anyone interested in the art of filmmaking. These panels will take place in the university’s beautiful 250-seat Fletcher Jones Auditorium at the center of their Burbank campus. All attendees will receive a special 2-for-1 voucher good for tickets to the film festival. President and Festival Director Jeff Rector is no stranger to Toluca Lake having served on the Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council for five years. “We are very excited to be partnering with Woodbury University as an educational affiliate,” Rector said.

Panels will include award-winning industry professionals including Writers, Directors, Producers, Actors, Animators, Casting Directors, Distribution Experts, Agents, and Managers (be sure to bring your headshots!) Each 90-minute Seminar/Panel will be an up-close and personal look at the ever-changing world of filmmaking in Hollywood, in traditional media and on the Internet. With technological changes from film to digital, there has never been a more accessible time for filmmakers to get their work acknowledged. Internet marketing (Facebook, LinkedIn) and audio/video platforms (YouTube, Vimeo) make film production and distribution possible, giving actors and filmmakers instant worldwide access.

This year’s panelists include Theatrical Casting Director Victoria Burrows (The Hobbit, Flight, Castaway), Commercial Casting Director Jeff Gerrard (over 3,500 commercials), Gary Marsh (founder of Actor’s Access), Director/Producer Darin Scott (Dark House, Tales from the Hood), Dialogue Editor Lou Kleinman (The Bourne Identity, Braveheart), Distribution Expert Jerome Courshon (The Secrets to Distribution), Commercial Agent Hugh Leon (Coast To Coast Talent Agency), Talent Agent Phil Brock (Studio Talent Group), Literary Agent Kathy Boole (STG Literary), Emmy-Winning Writer/Director Jeff Nimoy, Voice Artist Bill Farmer (Toy Story, Monsters Inc.), Debi Derryberry (the voice of Jimmy Neutron), and Special Visual Effects Artists Doug Drexler (Battlestar Galactica), Andrew Lema (Oz the Great and Powerful), Chris Dawson (Men in Black II, Titanic), Mark Weingartner (The Dark Knight Trilogy).
