If you’re looking for an authentic French experience, look no further than North Hollywood’s landmark restaurant — Le Petit Chateau. This charming little castle on Lankershim offers fully traditional dishes from early French cuisine (as well as some newer, lighter dishes). You’d certainly be hard pressed to find these treasures on other menus!
And there’s no better time than now to give this gem a try, as Le Petit Chateau is currently celebrating 50 years! The latest of the lineage to inherit the family-run business, Christiane Higgs and her husband Andrew are commemorating this fifty year accomplishment by offering a special, reasonably priced menu for their 50th Anniversary Celebration until November 15th.
Throughout their 50 years of business, the staff of Le Petit Chateau has been hard at work fine-tuning their vision and expertise. In 1964 Le Petit Chateau was opened by Christiane’s uncle, Francois Sirgant. Uncle Francois taught everything he knew to the current chef Solis, and in 1980, Solis took over as head chef. Today, you can still taste the results of those traditional methods, as Solis is still there and cooking up a storm!
To begin your meal, Le Petit Chateau offers a wonderful array of hot or cold hors d’oeuvres. A favorite dish to try is their Escargots. For your main entrée, try their Calves Liver, Steak Tartare, Chateaubriand, Frogs Legs, Sweet Breads, Coq Au Vin, Long Island Duck and more. The icing on the cake and the end to a perfect dinner is their special dessert menu, featuring Les Crepes Suzette.
Le Petit Chateau doesn’t just offer a delicious, authentic French menu, though. Inside is a charming homey-feeling restaurant whose main dining room has cathedral ceilings, and seats ninety people. The simplistic decor gives the main dining room a cozy feeling that pairs perfectly with their delectable dishes. Their equally charming banquet room seats fifteen to fifty five people, making it the perfect venue for special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate events and more.
Le Petit Chateau also boasts a very cozy and intimate full bar, which makes for a nice meeting place to get together for a cocktail or for cocktails before dinner. The wine list consists of a variety of California and French wines.
Le Petit Chateau is located at 4615 Lankershim Blvd., in North Hollywood. They open for lunch at 11:30am, Tuesday through Friday, and they offer a different seasonal selection special each day.
Dinner hours are 5pm to 10pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
