Greetings! For information on any of the items below, or to view photos from one of Tom’s events this week, please visit: www.tomlabonge.com.

When 4,000 British tourists were stranded in Los Angeles by the volcano in Iceland, Councilmember LaBonge worked with British Consul General Dame Barbara Hay and LA Inc., to show them a good time. The three arranged free visits to attractions in Council District 4 (Madame Tussaud’s, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Petersen Automotive Museum and others) to anyone with a Britsh passport.

In celebration of Earth Day, Councilmember Tom LaBonge led more than 350 public school fifth graders on a hike and tree-planting on the top of Mt. Hollywood in Griffith Park on his Fifth Annual Hike for Health.

On Tuesday, April 27th, some streets downtown will be closed for the funeral of former Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl Gates. The funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The procession from Deaton Auditorium at LAPD Headquarters to the Cathedral will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. See the attached flier for more information about street closures.

Have a great weekend and continue to enjoy and love Los Angeles.
