Stand Up for Animals!

Voice for the Animals Foundations is having their annual Stand Up for Animals!, a night of comedy with Rainn Wilson, Peter Berman, Bil Dwyer, and others at a private home in Venice. Tickets are available at www.vftafoundation.org. All proceeds go to help the animals we rescue and adopt out to families.

Free Youth Fishing Event

MacArthurParkLake, a City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks facility, will host a youth fishing derby.

This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood. The lake will be stocked with catfish for the derby. Everything for the kids is free.

Event day onsite registration will begin at 8 a.m., the fishing session will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing.

The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation, the California Department of Fish and Game, and other local partners are expected to participate.
