Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park Breaks Ground On Synthetic Turf Soccer Fields
Together with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and the Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, Councilmember Tom LaBonge broke ground on three new synthetic turf soccer fields at the Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park on Saturday. The new synthetic fields will be easier to maintain, and usable all year round. New seating areas with benches will allow for an improved spectator experience and will provide players with a place to cool off. Councilmember LaBonge and his office identified the project as a top priority just two years ago. After successfully collecting nearly $2.7 million in funding, the project will add two full-sized and one small synthetic turf soccer field to VNSO, helping control maintenance costs and creating safe place for thousands of children to play.
