Congratulations to this years, “King” Ernest Pacheco, 100yrs, and “Queen” Virginia Davis, 106yrs!

Reception for the 100 years of The Los Angeles Aqueduct and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County
T48-Community News 2 LaBonge naturalhistoryOrgNov. 6, 1913, marked the opening of the new Museum of History, Science and Art (the original name of NHM) and over 10,000 Angelenos attended the historic cultural event. Last Wednesday, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County marked its 100th anniversary and of the L.A. Aqueduct. The Museum was the first dedicated museum building in Los Angeles, that amassed one of the world’s most extensive and valuable collections of natural and cultural history. With two days of free admission for the public, an art exhibition and a civic ceremony, Councilmember LaBonge celebrated this memorable date with county and city leaders, officials from the Los Angeles Department of Water and the L.A. writer and historian D.J. Waldie. Councilmember LaBonge speaks to the attendees at the event.

Friendly Visit from Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter
A day filled with excitement and smiles, Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter 3rd graders made a friendly visit to City Hall on Wednesday. After Councilmember LaBonge introduced the students in Council, the children delivered letters to their city Councilmembers voicing their concerns in their district. Councilmember LaBonge awarded each student with official city proclamations.

Brookside Golf Club’s Toys for Tots Golf Tournament
Brookside Golf Club will host their first annual Toys for Tots Golf tournament to help collect unwrapped toys and donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

For over 60 years the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program has collected new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year, and distributed those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children across the nation.

Art and Music Book Sale to Benefit Brand Library
The Associates of Brand Library & Art Center will sponsor a book sale in the auditorium. Sale items include hundreds of art and music books, music scores, record albums (LPs), CDs, auction catalogs, and magazines, all at great prices. Members of the Associates of Brand Library and of the Friends of the Glendale Public Library are invited to a preview sale from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

All sale proceeds benefit The Associates of Brand Library & Art Center, a 501c3 non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to support the Brand Library. Credit cards, cash, and checks will be accepted. The Library, Arts, & Culture Department validates three hours of parking in the garage on the corner of Maryland and Harvard.
