Councilmember LaBonge Introduces New Party House Motion
Councilmember Tom LaBonge introduced a new motion on Wednesday, Nov. 21, in an effort to legislate the issue of party houses in the City of Los Angeles. This is not Councilmember LaBonge’s first motion introduced on the matter; he first put out a motion regarding party houses in 2006. The recent motion requests that city officials report on recommendations to adopt an ordinance regulating “party houses” similar to the recently adopted ordinances by the cities of Santa Monica and Malibu, which prohibit operating single family residential property as an event facility for commercial purposes. This motion was dual referred to the Planning and Land Use Management and Public Safety committees.
