At 107, She Carried out the Theme, “Oh, You Beautiful Doll”
The Sherman Oaks Women’s Club had a birthday party Wednesday for its honored member Edith Hooper. The tables were decorated in blue with a beautiful doll as the centerpiece. Edith came in a pale blue chiffon dress with perfectly matching attire.
The club was entertained by Robert Galbreath. He sang a variety of show tunes from Gershwin to the Beatles and concluding with Edith’s favorite, “How Great Thou Art.”
She came to live in North Hollywood in 1929. There have been a few changes since then which you will be finding out about in a later article entitle “How the Valley and Society has Changed from Edith’s Standpoint.”
The club begins its regular season of programs on October 7 with a community project for each month beginning with “Domestic Violence.”
