Councilmember LaBonge congratulated the 190 graduates of East Valley High School on June 18, 2009 as the first class to complete matriculation at the new school. East Valley High School opened in 2006 as part of the largest school building program in the district’s history. The school’s new athletic field was installed this year and a new swimming pool will open soon.
Monday marks Tom’s 10th Annual Summer Solstice Hike saluting the Los Angeles Sister Cities and Los Angeles Consular Corps. The sunset hike to the top of Mount Hollywood begins at 6 p.m. Meet us at the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot. We’ll share a potluck meal at the top of the mountain while enjoying the sweeping city views.
On Wednesday at 6 p.m., Tom launches Tour LaBonge, his series of summer evening bike rides. Meet him on the South Lawn of City Hall for the 10-mile tour of downtown. Visit the Web site (www.tomlabonge.com) to see a flier listing each weekly ride.
