Free Poetry Contest

A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special poetry contest being sponsored by The Celestial Arts Society. The contest is free and open to poets of any age. Fifty prizes totaling $5,000 in all will be awarded. Poems of 21 lines or less on any subject and in any style will be accepted.
Entries must be received by August 10 and may be submitted by mail to Free Poetry Contest, 704 1st St., Golden, CO 80403, or enter at Your name and address must appear on the page with the poem. To receive a winners list, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope with your entry.

Thanks to everyone who turned out for the Community Congress on Tuesday, which explored the impact of city budget cuts on sanitation, street services and public safety. Arthur T. Leahy, the new CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, also spoke about METRO expansion plans in the Wilshire area.
The third Tour LaBonge summer evening bike ride traveled the streets of Toluca Lake, NoHo and Studio City on Wednesday night. The next ride will be on Wednesday, July 15th in the Griffith Park area.
Drive along Lankershim Blvd. near Huston St. and see the new NoHo Arts District gateway, which was installed and unveiled on Thursday.
