Love, Laughter and Delight at the Falcon Theatre
It’s that time of year again: when the Falcon Theatre announces its next big subscription season. Built by director/writer/ producer Garry Marshall and his daughter Kathleen Marshall LaGambina, this local entertainment hot-spot brings five compelling productions to Burbank, including two premiere shows, a performance by George Carlin’s daughter Kelly Carlin, and collaborations with the award-winning companies Impro Theatre and Troubadour Theater Company.
Kicking things off, Falcon Theatre brings back the critically-acclaimed Impro Theatre with The Western UnScripted, directed by Dan O’Connor and Stephen Kearin.
“We’ve been steeping ourselves in the style of the classic film western; researching the work of John Ford, Howard Hawks, John Sturges and others to capture the grit and grandeur of the genre,” says Dan O’Connor, co-director and co-founder of Impro Theatre. “We’re so gosh darn happy to be hitchin’ our wagon to the Falcon Theatre for another show! After our successful run of Twilight Zone UnScripted there last year, we’re very excited to bring another all-new, completely improvised style to their terrific audiences.”
Next, the Falcon is excited to be producing the world premiere of the new comedy A or B?, written by Emmy-winning writer, director and producer Ken Levine, and directed by Andrew Barnicle.
A or B? is two romantic comedies in one, turning romance on its head as we follow Abby and Ben down two parallel lives, pitting destiny vs. choice, love vs. career, ambition vs. passion and man vs. woman.
“As a comedy writer I always wanted to grow up and be Garry Marshall,” says playwright Ken Levine. “This is going to make it so much easier to happen.”
To celebrate the holiday season, the Ovation Award-winning Troubadour Theater Company returns with The Snow QUEEN, directed by Matt Walker, a hilarious musical reimagining of this classic fable with the music of the mercurial British rock band.
The New Year brings A Carlin Home Companion, written and performed by Kelly Carlin and directed by acclaimed actor/comedian Paul Provenza. Chronicling over forty years of her life with her father, celebrated writer Kelly Carlin, the only child of iconoclastic comedian George Carlin, deftly weaves her amusing yet poignant family stories with classic video footage of her father’s career and family memorabilia.
Closing the season, the Falcon is proud to present the west coast premiere of Class, written by award-winning playwright Charles Evered, which tells the story of a veteran New York acting teacher who is visited by a mysterious young Hollywood starlet.
In addition to these great shows, this year the Falcon has also partnered with the Daily Grill restaurants to give subscribers an added benefit of a discounted local dining experience.
This is the thirteenth year the Falcon Theatre has presented a full subscription season, and it is sure to bring laughter, delight, and, most importantly, free parking to Burbank audiences.
