See Why St. Paul’s First Lutheran School Is Simply the B.E.S.T.

Education isn’t about standardized testing or state requirements. The best teachers don’t teach to meet certain quotas – their calling is to challenge, inform, and better prepare the future teachers of the world. They push their young students to want the best for themselves and others. Simply put, teaching isn’t a To-Do List that you can cross off by subject; all knowledge is connected, and the best teachers nudge young minds to find those connections.

Since 1947, St. Paul’s First Lutheran School has been striving to “provide a strong foundation for children’s future and eternal life.” They currently offer classes from kindergarten to 8th grade as well as preschool ages 2, 3, and 4.

“The idea is to create a family atmosphere where parents, teachers, and students all work together,” Principal Rendy Koeppel says. “We’re not only teaching; we’re building relationships.”

The curriculum is a traditional back-to-basics approach with the newest technology incorporated (including a computer lab and computers in every classroom). Most of their textbooks and equipment are the latest in educational materials. Learning is an interactive experience inside the classroom.

Kindergarten student, Adonia, works intently on her Math with guidance from teacher Terri Miller.

The extra-curricular fulfills a wide variety of activities to meet the gifts and talents of each unique child. A full slate of athletics includes football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer – sports for girls and boys. The arts are represented thoroughly as well, led by full-time Director of Music Kurt Cereske. A full array of music options includes hand-bells, hand-chimes, and wind instruments. The drama department puts on an annual spring show. And to top it all off, foundational to the school is a faith-based approach to life.

“We try to incorporate strong Christian values in all that we do. By providing affordable tuition due to support from members of our church, the school is able to consistently raise the bar in education while remaining inclusive to all who seek high-quality education,” Koeppel says.

A cut above the rest, that’s why St. Paul’s mantra is an acronym for B.E.S.T., as in Biblical Excellence Service-Minded Together. Come see for yourself at their Open House on Tuesday, Jan. 31, all day long, 9 a.m.—7 p.m. This will be an opportunity for parents to receive a tour of the entire campus, to meet and talk to the staff, and receive information on enrollment.
