NoHo Senior Arts Colony Delivers Artistic Lifestyle to Active Adults

NoHo Senior Arts Colony residences include one- and two-bedroom floor plans with granite countertops, in-home washer and dryer, modern kitchen appliances, and a private balcony or patio.

History is being made in the performing arts industry as NoHo Senior Arts Colony, a new senior apartment community catering to artists and promoting the arts, becomes the first in the nation to open in concert with a professional on-site theatre. In addition to the theatre, the new community, open to seniors age 62 and above, will offer visual arts and film editing studios, free educational arts classes, and an environment that promotes the arts at every turn.

“We are inviting artists, and those who wish to be involved in or surrounded by the arts, to come and live in a community in which they will increase their artistic abilities and opportunities, as well as being surrounded by like-minded, arts-focused neighbors,” notes John Huskey, CEO of the community developer Meta Housing Corporation.

Meta Housing Corporation is partnering with the Road Theatre Company in this project, according to Huskey.

“We believe this to be the first on-site professional theatre in an active adult apartment community anywhere,” he says. “The Road’s award-winning theatre and commitment to the arts will really make this community special.”

In addition, Meta Housing Corporation is collaborating with EngAGE, a non-profit organization that will provide an integrated program of arts and wellness classes at no charge to residents of the new community.

Residents at the NoHo Senior Arts Colony will benefit from a true community, where neighbors are engaged and connected through a unique, arts-enriched lifestyle.

Tim Carpenter, the founder and executive director of EngAGE, says that the organization changes aging and the way people think about aging by transforming senior apartment communities into vibrant centers of learning, wellness, and creativity.

“Our mission is to increase the physical and mental health of people as they age through active involvement in the arts,” notes Carpenter, who is also a board member of the National Center for Creative Aging.

In addition to the numerous arts classes and opportunities with the Road Theatre Company, NoHo Senior Arts Colony will also feature on-site amenities, including a visual arts studio, digital arts studio, modern fitness studio, eco-meditation garden, large terrace for social gatherings, computer/ business center, and a heated swimming pool.

The residences include one- and two-bedroom floor plans, with granite countertops, in-home washer and dryer, modern kitchen appliances, and a private balcony or patio.

“In many apartment communities, we see people who just live inside their own spaces and don’t really interact with their neighbors,” Huskey says. “But at the NoHo Senior Arts Colony, we have created a true community, where coming home might involve a yoga class, rehearsal, or complimentary tickets to a preview of a new award-winning show by the Road Theatre Company in the theatre downstairs.”

The NoHo Senior Arts Colony is located at 10747 Magnolia Blvd. in North Hollywood. Leasing information is available at (855) 399-5381.
