When the bell rings and students spill into the hallways of Bridges Academy, the buzz of activity is no different than at any other school in the city. But if you listen closely, you’ll hear a level of dialogue that is quite extraordinary. These students are brimming with intellectual curiosity, creativity and a humanity that is rare among those so young.
Bridges Academy is a fully-accredited college preparatory school, grades 5-12, dedicated to educating gifted and highly-gifted students who are outside-the-box thinkers. These amazing young people also happen to have AD/HD, learning differences, non-verbal disabilities and/or other conditions that impact their learning or the expression of their gifts. They are students who didn’t quite fit in at other schools but who thrive in an environment where their teachers and peers “get them.”
Bridges offers these twice-exceptional (2e) students a blend of differentiated classroom instruction, project-based curriculum, experiential learning, and enrichment classes—and in the high school: comprehensive talent development opportunities, a focus on preparation for college and life after Bridges.
Feeding the gifts and talents of these young people is a Bridges priority. The dynamic curriculum—core classes, electives, an integration of study and social skills into every classroom—is built around individual learning profiles and divergent learning styles. Class sizes are limited to eight in the middle school and an average of eight in the high school, allowing for more individualized attention and stronger teacher-student relationships. The Bridges faculty and staff understand these students, and have the training, strategies, instinct and compassion to create a meaningful and rewarding learning environment.

Bridges is a leader in twice-exceptional education, assisting these gifted and complex students to overcome educational, social and emotional challenges. The school has attracted leading experts in the field who have made significant contributions to the school and helped Bridges become a major national resource center for families and professionals.
Bridges Academy, located in Studio City, has enrolled students from virtually every corner of the greater Los Angeles area, and even students from other states and countries. The ever-expanding Bridges community is closely woven. Students and their parents often share a common journey, one laden with disappointment, exclusion and anxiety. One would never know it when listening to these bright young people discuss issues covering the full range of human knowledge. As one student put it: “At Bridges, my uniqueness is celebrated, and I am identified by the things I can do, not what I can’t.”
To better understand these complex and extraordinary students and the Bridges approach to meeting their intellectual, learning and social/emotional needs, the school offers parent and professional open houses, group tours and/or private visits.

Bridges Academy is located at 3921 Laurel Canyon Blvd., Studio City, CA 91604. For more information call (818) 506-1091 or go to www.bridges.edu.
