On Mother’s Day (May 10th), Taste Chicago will honor Moms with free champagne at their newly-renovated restaurant. Served chilled in the most delightful miniature ice buckets and paired with their signature heart-shaped pizza, you’ll be sure to give Mom a treat she’ll always remember. This spring, the restaurant will also be home to “Pink Tuesdays” offering “Ladies Half-off” any beverage their hearts desire!
Taste Chicago, the “little hotdog stand that could,” is nestled between the Burbank Airport and Warner Bros. Studios. Owned since 2003 by Arlene and Joe Mantegna (Joe currently stars in CBS’ “Criminal Minds” which airs Wednesday nights at 9pm), this Chicago-style Italian restaurant has been a favorite treat for many Los Angeles locals and natives from the windy city. Having undergone many recent chan-ges, from the addition of beer and wine to the enclosure of the porch, it’s safe to say that Taste Chicago has truly grown up.
The neighborhood hangout, great for a business lunch or the casual afternoon rendezvous, is now the perfect place to grab a drink. Their spirits menu includes Heineken on tap, an assortment of bottled beers, red and white wine and California’s own Korbel Champagne in Brut and Rosé. Boasting “Happy Hour Prices All the Time,” Taste Chicago doesn’t disappoint. Bottled beers and wine by-the-glass range between $3 and $4, while a Heineken draft will only set you back $4.25. With these additions, Taste Chicago will now be open on Fridays and Saturdays ‘til 10pm.

Known for having the “Best Chicago dog in the Valley,” authentic Italian beef sandwiches and deep-dish pizza that’s second to none, their menu also includes homemade spaghetti and meatballs, tender grilled chicken salad, stuffed jumbo shells and a rib dinner that’s hard to pass up. With constant daily traffic from local businesses, the addition of beer and wine to this tasty menu is all the more reason to frequent this popular site.
Having enclosed the porch, Taste Chicago’s dining area has nearly doubled in size. The res-taurant now offers two char-ming dining areas that can accommodate a large group, or be sectioned into personal tables for smaller parties.
Whether it’s your first trip or you’re a weekly patron, there is no denying that Taste Chicago is the only place in town that combines great Chicago food, affordable beverages and a friendly atmosphere. Never forget that the convenient proximity to so many studios makes this little restaurant a magnet for celebrity traffic. So the next time you’re headed out with friends for a drink or need a place for your Friday or Saturday night dinner date, make sure to drop by the corner of Hollywood Way and Verdugo and check out the (not-so-little) hotdog stand that’s all grown up.
