Well folks, The Hollywood Arts Council will present the 27th Annual Charlie Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 5, in the Blossom Room at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The year 2013 is also the 35th Anniversary — a benchmark year — for the Hollywood Arts Council, which produces the annual Charlie Awards. The emcee will be ABC7’s George Pennachio and celebrity guests, including singer/songwriter Melissa Manchester, will present awards to honorees and companies for significant contributions to the arts and Hollywood.

It is always a lovely and entertaining luncheon for a worthwhile cause and is presented by Nyla and Oscar Arslanian.

A special award of recognition will be presented by ArtPlace to the Hollywood Arts Council in recognition of Los Angeles, CA/Central Hollywood being named in ArtPlace’s recent report as one of its Top 12 Art Places in the United States.

Other prominent 2013 Charlie Award honorees include: HUDSON PACIFIC PROPERTIES (Preservation Arts Award), CAPITOL RECORDS/EMI (Public Art Award), COUTERIER GALLERY (Visual Arts Award), HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL (Theater Arts Award), LOS ANGELES BEAUTIFICATION TEAM (Environmental Arts Award), and the LOS ANGELES FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE STATION 82 (Architectural Award).

President of the Hollywood Arts Council Nyla Arslanian said, “Our annual Charlie Awards have become one of Hollywood’s favorite events. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the programs of the Council and in particular, Project S.O.A.R. (Students Overcoming All Risks), the council’s afterschool arts workshops that we present at eight Hollywood area elementary schools.”

She continues, “We know these are unusual times, but we are committed to recognizing the important value of providing free arts programming to our underserved young people. Today’s odds are that 50% of our youth will drop out before graduating from high school. The arts often provide the spark to keep a youngster on the path to graduation. On this, the 35th Anniversary of the Hollywood Arts Council, we vow to maintain our commitment to strengthen, promote, nurture, and support the arts and culture in Hollywood in the years that lie ahead.”

The Charlie Awards luncheon is open to the general public. Tickets are $100 each. For reservations and further information, please call (323) 871-ARTS, and visit the website hollywoodartscouncil.org in advance of the Charlie Awards.
