Top Chef Season 5 contestant Alex Euseblo has launched a neat and homey sandwich-and-salad bistro in the hungry heart of Toluca Lake and has dubbed the promising venture the Sweetsalt Food Shop which is about as quaint as he can get.
The former New Yorker of Dominican descent was formerly a popular food figure as chef at the restaurant 15 in Echo Park, which was later sold out from under him. Undaunted, Euseblo married his sweetheart, singer Sara Mann, and headed to Martha’s Vineyard. Plan B was thwarted when his bride landed an enviable spot as a back-up singer with Miley Cyrus. The newlyweds relocated here and waited for “the right location.”
The Sweetsalt menu changes with what appeals to Alex as fresh and appetizing and his daily soups are spontaneous. Every specialty is priced under $10 so the entrepreneur may not get rich at this career junction, but he’s happy to be “cooking for the joy of it again” (Sweetsalt serves daily except Sundays in Toluca Lake.
 The handsome, full-service Dish Restaurant is the toast of La Canada at breakfast, lunch and dinner with fulfilling food best described as “down home cooking.” Savor the flavor of roasted Sonoma leg of lamb, seven-cheese macaroni or an Angus sirloin Cheeseburger with Applewood smoked bacon.
A broad selection of Pastry Chef diet – busters includes an ever so sweet Chocolate Banana Cream Pie and a warm, deep-dish Apple Pie.
 Yes Virginia, there’s a full bar and, for good measure, Dish stocks a 75 label wine list with 15 vintages available by the glass.
