Little Dom’s is a gentle blast from the past in the Los Feliz area of L.A that serves an interesting menu of breakfast and lunch dishes served from early morn’ ‘til sundown. Consider the oven-roasted French toast soufflé with crème fraiche whipped cream and maple syrup for $8 or scrambled eggs bruschetta with a grilled banquette, roasted tomato and pesto for $10.
Really hungry? Brunch on pizza with a sunny side up egg, mozzarella and tomato sauce for $16. Breakfast sides range from fried potatoes for $4 to grilled wild boar bacon for $5. A steaming pot of hearty coffee goes for $2.95 and is well worth the tab.
Lunch features include lump crab with Fuji apples, celery root, watercress baby celery and lemon vinaigrette for $16. The wood grilled hamburger with burrata, roasted tomato, mostardo and speck on a split roll is a tasty treat at $12. Less appealing is a spicy meatball sandwich with mozzarella for $12 (add $3 for spaghetti). Add an arugula salad with a sandwich for $3.
At the peak of the brunch bunch is Dom‘s grilled hangar steak with arugula and parmesan for $18 or the fresh whitefish piccata for $19. Sides include grilled bread for $3 and sautéed spinach for $5. The pizza margherita is $11 plus extra toppings.
Nobody rushes thru a relaxing visit to Little Dom’s, where a bottle of wine adds panache to any meal. The staff is all smiles and service, but the street parking situation can be a challenge. Little Dom’s is located at 22128 Hilhurst Ave. in the Los Feliz area.
I note with regret the passing of Sara Ferraro, who with her late husband Carl Ferraro who passed away in ’95, co-founded the Dresden Restaurant, 1760 N. Vermont Ave. An astute and attractive full-time business woman, Sara died at 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
For more than half a century the Dresden has ranked among the city’s most inviting American steak houses and entertainment loungers and the dinner place continues to be family operated. Sara’s funeral services will be private.
