The venerable Smoke House turns 65 in October, but the Burbank landmark isn’t about to retire. Noted for its classic American menu, featuring carved to order Prime Ribs of Beef and succulent Stuffed Salmon.
Nestled at 4420 Lakeside Dr. (off Olive at Barham), the spacious, well maintained place with a thriving lounge and convivial bar has long been the favorite watering hole for celebs working on the nearby Warner Brothers lot. For some years I taped my Celebrity Table broadcast luncheon chats there and guests always commented on the excellent service from career staffers. The savory garlic toast is justly famous and is now available at selected grocery markets.
The lavish Sunday Brunch at “the Smoke” is legendary and pricey while the regular seven day and nite dining room menus are moderate and a solid value…. Depending on your capacity, the appetizer and dessert options are tempting and main course portions are generous. You’ll want to settle in the comfy leather booth seating and stay awhile. Nobody will rush your pleasure. The overall menu falls short of gourmet status, but ranks as three stars with bonus points for an impressive domestic wine list.
Private parties are a special feature at the Smoke House, which provides paid valet service for all patrons. To join the 65th birthday parade, make reservations by dialing (818) 845-3731.
