Well folks, I was lucky to travel all the way to Laguna Beach to honor current Emmy nominee, my performing idol and ambassador for my cinema series “Kat Kramer’s Films That Change The World,” Lily Tomlin and her “Grace And Frankie” co-star Sam Waterston, who were the special guests of honor for the 10th Anniversary of Oceana’s Sea Change Summer Party 2017.

My mother and I have long been a “voice” for marine life and the oceans, and we were Oceana partners and donated memorabilia from the Stanley Kramer Centennial Collection to the silent auction.

The evening started with a cocktail reception with a picturesque view of the Pacific Ocean at a beautiful private home, Villa Di Sogni. The Master of Ceremonies was actor Ted Danson, who along with Waterston, are longtime Oceana board members. The evening also recognized and honored ocean champions Anne Earhart, Herbert M. Bedorfe III and the Marisla Foundation.

Oceana believes, “a healthy ocean is every child’s rightful inheritance.” Currently, they have an important mission to protect the oceans, marine life and coastal communities from offshore drilling. During the program, Oceana CEO Andrew Sharpless spoke about the progress Oceana was making. Tomlin spoke about Fukushima, a topic we’ve both explored. She said that the work of Oceana, “helps bridge the gap between our human nature and our humanity.” And regarding our pollution problem, “it’s a gap as wide as the ocean itself.”

It was worth the effort to go “Travelin’ for Tomlin” and the oceans. Sea Change 2017 raised $1.2 million.
