Celebrate Memorial Day with the award-winning San Fernando Valley Master Chorale as they present their last concert for the season with a patriotic presentation, which includes Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom — based on writings by Thomas Jefferson — and Vaughan Williams’s Mass in G Minor. Soloists will perform selections from Les Miserables, spirituals and contemporary patriotic songs.
Sponsored by the Pierce College Associated Students Organization (ASO), the concert will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, at Pierce College’s “Theater on the Hill” located at 6201 Winnetka Ave. in Woodland Hills. Artistic Director Terry Danne and Assistant Director Dr. Donald Caldwell will lead the group in this joyful and stirring offering. The program features the Chamber Chorale; quartets and soloists; Fe’ao Bloomfield, Karen Matranga, Brittney Wheeler, John Wallis and Joaquin Labado. Nima Sahabi will play a Chopin piano prelude, and Paul Banker will be the group’s guest harpist.
Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for seniors and military and $10 for students. To order tickets, call (818) 753-3306 or visit www.brownpapertickets.com.
