Our Dining Editor in Praise of Gary Bric’s Ramp

Gary Bric’s Ramp.

Gary Bric’s Ramp.

In an era of corporation dining where ‘look alike, cook alike’ restaurants abound, it’s refreshing to visit the dissimilar originality of Gary Bric’s Ramp, owned and operated by the city’s number one citizen, the popular and dedicated  Mayor and his wife Shelly, and voted Burbank’s #1 Steakhouse in a reader survey.
From its unique location to its modest ‘down by the lake lodge’ aura, the Ramp entices guests to relax and hang easy while indulging in a choice Porterhouse, cooked to order and a tad bigger than the steak platter. There’s Alaskan Halibut (so fresh it could’ve swum to the grill!), melt in your mouth filet mignon, luxurious broiled lobster tail, King Crab legs, flavorful Pacific Swordfish and much more.
Every main dinner dish includes a big steamy bowl of homemade soup or a generous chilled salad of mixed greens with choice of dressing, as well as baked or fried potatoes and a choice of fresh veggies du jour. Optional sides include golden onion rings (the best in town), crispy fried clams or munchie garlic and cheese toast.
For wine fanciers, Gary’s well-stocked selection features more than two dozen sensibly-priced vintages with several house wines available by the (full) glass. Cocktails are served, and the inviting bar provides a convivial stop upon arrival, or for lingering after the meal. The Ramp has a cozy party facility for group events. I speak from experience having taken bows for several memorable occasions…
Come as you are comfy but please arrive hungry. Don’t resist sweet temptation at dessert time, and don’t hesitate to ask for carry-outs—leftovers never tasted so good!
For good measure there’s self-parking near the entrance and a warm welcome awaits you anytime any day from 11am ’til late in the evening. If all this seems too good to be true, test me and visit Gary Bric’s remarkable Ramp once, then you’ll start spreading the good word too.
