Say ‘cheese’ and join Palate’s Cirque du Fromage Tuesday

Eves starting at 7pm at the charming wine bar of Palate Food and Wine (933 S. Brand Blvd. in Glendale). Also available is a tasting of three cheeses and wines at $12. No reservations are necessary for the tasting, which also offers $6 plates of specialties like burrata and steak carpaccio. The innovative, chef-owned Palate is one of the most acclaimed dinner houses on the gourmet scene.
Kids under the age of 12 order from P. F. Chang’s China Bistro’s special menu priced from $2.95 to $4.95, including chicken fried rice and baby Buddah’s Feast at all locations including Sherman Oaks and Woodland Hills.
The newly opened, Euro inspired, immense 117 seat Chablis Food & Wines  at the former location of Paul’s Café (18588 Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana), serves dinner nightly from 5:30 ‘til 10:30.The aim is to serve quality meals at modest prices with entrées under $20.
In Las Vegas, Nove Italiano wants you to ‘get corked’ after the week-end action on Mondays with hundreds of vintages at half-price, plus a variety of pasta specialties from $11 and a ‘small bites’ menu with pizza, clams, crab cakes, calamari or meatballs, all just $9 each. Nove Italiano is located atop the Palms Fantasy Tower.
The Palate is hooked on the crispy heap of lightly-breaded, deep-fried zucchini sticks, a flavorful, fresh veggie alternative to French fries, featured at the bustling, chain-free quick-service Gold Star Cafe on S. Brand at Cerritos just beyond auto row in Glendale. Try a combo order with a meaty filet chicken breast, tasty, piled-high Pastrami on a French roll or a juicy burger on a large, fresh sesame bun, all with fair warning that it will surely prove habit-forming. I know it got to me. To preserve my boyish waistline, I’ve tried, without success, to talk generous George into offering a smaller portion. Meanwhile I just keep comin’ back for more. I must mention that breakfast, served ’til 11:30 ayem, at the Gold Star is special right down to the golden pile of shredded hash browns with all egg orders. I’ve met a number of Tolucan Timers who somehow recognized the Palate from my byline graduation photo, and are glad the Palate finally caught onto the casual pleasure of eating here. There’s self-parking behind the café.
