The Curious Palate

Retro Astro Restaurant is a nostalgic blast from the past at 2300 Fletcher Dr. in Los Angeles where you can order from an array of incredible omelettes made with four eggs 7/24 with a choice of home style hash browns, country fries, cottage fries, toast, or muffin.

The Palate has been a patron here for half a century. The place was known as Conrad’s in those days and the distinctive structural design was inspired by Googies inHollywood.

Today the food and service are more consistent. The inviting round-the-clock landmark serves breakfast anytime. There’s a dazzling menu of sandwiches, salads, cooked-to-order entrees, and tempting desserts. Steaks are choice and there’s a wide range of pasta dishes as well as Mexican specialties and a menu for kids under the age of 12.

Take your pick of seating. There are family friendly booths and a big counter for singles, a glass enclosed patio, plus a quieter dining room with softer lighting.

No alcohol beverages are served here.

Portions are more than generous and menu prices are very moderate at the well maintained, family owned Astro restaurant that provides adjoining self parking. A sister restaurant with a similar menu, Jan’s, is located at8424 Beverly Blvd.inLos Angeles.
