Exotic dining simply cannot be more satisfying than at Salomi Indian & Bangladesh Restaurant, an elegantly appointed enterprise serving exemplary cuisine in alluring, intimate, and flawlessly maintained premises. The experience begins when you enter this inviting restaurant tucked on a corner near Magnolia Boulevard, and inhale the tempting aroma of curry. There’s a handsome wine bar and cozy seating at linen-clad tables. A sparkling crystal chandelier illuminates the center of the soft-lit premises with its tasteful setting. Ahmed Kepir is clearly perpetuating a three-decade Valley family tradition.
A varied menu of appetizers and main dishes is artfully presented at lunch and dinner seven days a week, and nightly until 10 (open til 11 on Friday and Saturdays)—compliments to the expert kitchen staff.
If you are less than familiar with the wonders of tandoori cooking, trust Ahmed or his skillful manager Helal to guide you through myriad pleasures at Salomi.
You should survey the entire á la carte menu, but for tight mid-day schedules and budgets, a dozen lunchtime specials are priced under $10. Or you can indulge in a delicious array of appetizers, each regally presented and priced from $2 to $7.95 per generous portion. Whatever your choice, the dishes will be meticulously prepared and served by Helal’s attractive, efficient staffers. No meal here is complete without the tasty, unleavened Naan bread (even better with garlic and basil).
Irresistible Tandoori oven-seared dishes range from $7.95 to $13.95, and include ample portions of delicately flavored Chicken Tikka or King Prawns, as well as Lamb Tikka Kebab.
Whatever your choices, which include kebabs, kirahi, tikka, and Bombay or Vegetarian combinations, clue the server as to your preference of mild, medium, or hot spices. (The Palate opts for the medium safety zone.)
If a meal isn’t complete without a sweet finale, opt for fini, a homemade rice pudding.
Try Salomi once and, like me, you’ll want to return and tell other discriminating diners about the sublime gastronomical experience!
