“An Evening with Yvette Cason,” at Hollywood’s Catalina Jazz Club on Sunday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. is an Upright Cabaret presentation that offers a great night with a superb entertainer. The magnificent voice of Cason has been heard on Broadway (Play On!), in movies (Dreamgirls), performing at the White House and Kennedy Center, plus working with Stevie Wonder, Babyface, and Whitney Houston.
“The audience will be treated to different music genres that create my storytelling journey,” says Yvette. “The songs in my repertoire are very meaningful to me, such as ‘Dreamgirls.’ It was so pivotal to my career since I did the musical and the movie. Plus with ‘My Funny Valentine,’ ‘Guess Who I Saw Today,’ ‘You’ve Got a Friend,’ and ‘I’m Every Woman,’ there will be songs that speak to everyone. And I’ll be showing off my comedic side.”
A highlight should be the song “If” which Yvette will dedicate to her 11-year-old son, “who was the catalyst for me putting together the show. He said, ‘Mom, I miss you up on stage.’ So now to make him and my husband happy, and me happy, I’m back sharing my life through songs that have shaped me as an artist, performed in a cozy setting.”
The must-see show is the latest in the popular cabaret series produced by Chris Isaacson, who has a knack for putting the spotlight on the best entertainers. It’s at the Catalina Jazz Club located at 6725 West Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, (323) 466-2210. For tickets call (818) 736-5600 or visit UprightCabaret.com.
