A gorgeous summer night and a free event was the right combination to ensure a huge turnout for the Downtown Burbank Car Classic on July 28. The summer event takes the place of the annual “Be-Boppin’ in the Park” car show which is cancelled this year.

Among the energy drink stands and classic car insurance booths were rarities like a 1955 Hudson Italia and a Ghia show car. Awards were presented for various vehicle categories.

A flag ceremony marked the start of the afternoon’s festivities, followed by an airborne salute featuring vintage aircraft. A comedy show sponsored by Flappers Comedy Club and music by a cappella singers The Alley Cats followed. Many of downtown Burbank’s restaurants including Market City Café and Gordon Biersch participated in the occasion by offering special menus.
