Cal Phil’s 17th season of Festival on the Green at Santa Anita Race Track, presented by Westfield Santa Anita, continues this weekend with the immensely popular themed Andrew Lloyd Webber Meets Puccini on Saturday, July 13.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for pre-concert dining, plus live jazz and a host of pre-concert family friendly activities. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Table and lawn seating on the plush green grass of Santa Anita Race Track’s infield provide the area’s best unobstructed view of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.
Also continuing to celebrate its 10th anniversary performing at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the acclaimed orchestra will repeat the concert with a matinee on Sunday, July 14, at the incomparable music hall.
The concert starts at 2 p.m., with the popular pre-concert informative and entertaining Talks with the Maestro beginning at 1 p.m.
A highly-anticipated concert, Andrew Lloyd Webber Meets Puccini boasts magical moments from prolific composers Webber, a master of modern musical theater, and Puccini, one of Opera’s most prolific composers in history.
Noted soprano Lori Stinson, dramatic tenor Christopher Campbell, and award-winning bass baritone Cedric Berry join Cal Phil and the Cal Phil Chorale in rousing works from such musical masterpieces as Phantom of the Opera, La Boheme, Sunset Blvd., and Tosca, as well as Nessun Dorma and the finale to Turandot.
