Nancy Marlow, Senior Club Host for the Toluca Lake Tennis Club and SportsCenterand long-time writer for The Tolucan Times, is pleased to announce the completion of the first ever Class Schedule for the club’s new Ageless Fitness program for seniors and older adults. “Our daily classes have started Sept. 10 and they are a marvelous adventure to improve the health of seniors,” Marlow says.
The following Class Schedule has been published:
Mondays at 2 p.m.
Tai-Chi Chuan with Iren Jensen
Starts with a 4-week introductory class everyone can drop into, followed by an intensive 8-week program where registration is required.
Iren Jensen teaches the introductory class with beginners in mind. Tai-Chi strengthens and invigorates the body. It also stimulates blood circulation and energy, which in turn improves muscle strength and endurance. Tai-Chi is also known to have both calming and revitalizing effects at the same time, enhancing the body-mind harmony.
Tuesdays at 3 p.m.
Ageless Mobility with Eddie
Functional everyday movements that require balance and stability.
Eddie will pace and walk the participants through functional everyday movements that require balance and stability, utilizing core + hip + joint reaction. Eddie will screen for deviations, weaknesses, strengths of your specific body types, and guide you safely through a fun and low impact routine.
Wednesdays at 3 p.m.
Ageless Body, Mind, Spirit Yoga with Kimberly
This gentle class focuses on helping to increase range of motion, improve posture, restore flexibility, develop balance, and increase your ability to relax. These supported yoga poses will be adapted to your needs and abilities by using various props. Class will conclude with a restorative final relaxation pose (Shavasana). Relaxation is a key component to staying ageless and healthy. Tibetan bowls and aromatherapy may be used to increase your ability to let go.
Thursdays at 3 p.m.
Ageless Mobility and Strength with Eddie
Eddie will pace and guide the participants of this class through a core and mobility/stability/balanced based exercise program. Slightly more challenging but still low impact, this program uses bands for strength and stability, foam rollers for functional stretching, and corrective exercises.
Fridays at 2 p.m.
Our Friday class is all about learning for “Ageless Fitness” members. Lectures will be held in the class room, in the lounge, or at Back-in-Balance Physical Therapy. The classes will include information and exercises in Physical Therapy, learning about medical conditions like Diabetes, Cancer, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, and more. We’ll also offer classes about Medicare, and medical billing for Physical Therapy.
Nancy Marlow adds, “Balance and mobility are the most important areas affecting the quality of life for seniors. Fact is, they extend your life and we have them covered in Tai-Chi, as well as in Yoga and our Mobility classes.”
