Legendary Academy Award winning actors Mickey Rooney and Margaret O’Brien along with comic icon Rose Marie will gather with other Hollywood celebrities and fans at the Southern California Motion Picture Council’s 77th Annual “Fall Ball” at the historic Sportsmen’s Lodge in Studio City. The event is Monday night, Oct. 14 and is open to the public. Tickets include a gourmet buffet dinner and stage show.
Actor Randal Malone, president of the Council, will again serve as Master Of Ceremonies and some 200 guests are expected to attend. Past attendees have included such luminaries as Lauren Bacall, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Robert F. Kennedy, Spencer Tracy, and John Wayne.
The mission of the Southern California Motion Picture Council is to “encourage and reward production of family-oriented films and television programs,” according to Malone.
The Council was founded in 1936 to promote high moral standards in entertainment. They also present Golden Halo awards for the best in movies, television, stage plays, and the performing arts. Past winners have included Tippi Hedren, Carol Channing, Mickey Rooney, and Jerry Maren.
The non-profit organization also has ventured into philanthropic causes. For more information or to order tickets for the Fall Ball, please contact Elizabeth Gaudino, Event Coordinator, at (626) 794-1968. Visit scmotionpicturecouncil.com.
