You might’ve gazed upon it while parking at Bob’s Big Boy or during a coffee break at Starbucks. The building nestled behind trees in the cul-de-sac on Evergreen Street is Evergreen Retirement Residence, a family-owned gem and inconspicuous pillar of the community.
Through the entrance is a welcoming smile from a lovely resident, a warm greeting from Marketing Director Yasmin Ramirez, and a firm handshake from the man who’s in charge of it all, Director of Happiness Avi Heyman. Within minutes of discussing the past, present, and future of Evergreen, the compassion and care with which the staff conducts their daily business is made abundantly clear.
Avi, who also sits on the board of Burbank Emergency & Disaster acting as a direct liaison and is the voice for the retirement community of Toluca Lake and Burbank, is highly aware of the importance in maintaining a family business and not having to conform to any sort of corporate jurisdiction. He is fully dedicated to his commitment to uphold a gold standard within the walls that were built by his parents in the ‘80s.
Avi speaks highly of the special community of retirees that call Evergreen home. He believes the rich history of Toluca Lake and the citizens are, along with his wonderful staff, what make Evergreen such a standout environment to live and thrive in. The closest thing to a small town in a big city as you can get, Evergreen represents the very independent, self-sufficient nature that rings true to the essence of Toluca Lake itself.
Evergreen cordially invites you to “put on the Ritz” and stop by for their Monte Carlo Night on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. with the proceeds benefitting the “Burbank Police Officers’ Association.” Donations are encouraged. Checks can be made payable to “Evergreen Retirement Residence.” Come join in! I know I will.
Evergreen Retirement Residence is located at 225 N. Evergreen St. in Burbank. For more information, call (818) 843-8268.
