“Through my 70+ year friendship with Mickey, it was a journey that was incomparable to most.
In recent years we would meet for Hollywood events and of course for dinner. Mickey loved to go out and have a long supper reminiscing about our studio days at the old MGM. Mickey would say to me, ‘Margaret, looks like we are about all that’s left of the old MGM gang. They call it the Golden Age. I suppose that had we known it would be called that we may have tried a little harder. But looks as if we did OK.
Mickey was always exuberant, remained unstoppable and he worked to the very end. We had just completed filming our scenes with friend and co-star Randal Malone in what will now be known as Mickey Rooney’s last screen appearance in ‘The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde.’”
