Burbank martial arts school California Academy of Martial Arts helps children and adults alike to enjoy leading a healthy, fit lifestyle. In addition to group and private Kung Fu classes available 7 days a week, they host a number of themed events, camps, and parties for the community.

“If you’re an adult and you want to lose weight and live better in 2014, you have to start now,” says Chief Instructor Todd Shawn Tei. “If you put off getting healthy for a ‘better time’ that time will never come.” As for kids, he says, “Regular schools teach kids to pass standardized tests. We teach kids to be successful at public speaking, leadership, socializing, focusing, goal-setting … you can’t measure these skills, but they make all the difference. Our focus on producing confident, street-smart kids sets us apart.”

The school’s next kid-friendly event is a “Valentine’s Day Parents’ Night Out” on Friday, Feb. 14, from 6-9 p.m. Children ages 5-13 are invited for a night of Kung Fu, games, a pizza party, build-your-own dessert bar, movie, and crafts. This event is open to both students and non-students for just $35 per child. No martial arts experience needed! Advance RSVP is required and the event is expected to sell out.

The Academy also offers adult/teen classes daily and is considered Los Angeles’ top school of Wing Chun Kung Fu, the Chinese martial art made famous by Bruce Lee.

California Academy of Martial Arts is located at 521-A N. Hollywood Way in Burbank. For more information, call (818) 843-7916 or visit
