Gotta sweet tooth? Try this: fresh ripe strawberries atop dark chocolate pudding in a flakey graham cracker crust topped with rich fudge and fresh whipped cream. That’s Strawberry Fudge Pie, and it’s just one of many delightful desserts at Four ‘N 20 restaurants, a valley favorite since 1969. The fresh peach pie is a house specialty, but come for the delicious meals and the best tortilla soup in the region, according to owner Michael O’Donnell. Although Four ‘N 20 opened originally as a pie shop, it has evolved into two full-service neighborhood restaurants with strong community ties.
O’Donnell and partner David Burkin manage the locations currently in Valley Village at Laurel Canyon and Riverside Drive and Sherman Oaks on Van Nuys Boulevard. O’Donnell enthuses about Four ‘N 20’s scrumptious sandwiches like Chicken Parmigiana prepared on garlic bread with mozzarella cheese and fluffy omelettes, which can be ordered with tasty items like shrimp and chili, and breakfast specialties like French Toast Extraordinaire, served with grilled pineapple and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Calorie counters might check the Fitness Menu with irresistible selections like the tasty Southwest Turkey Burger served with wild rice and vegetables. Sunday Champagne Brunch offers Fresh Salmon Benedict on a grilled English muffin topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and served with potatoes, champagne or mimosa, fresh fruit, and coffee or hot tea for just $14.95.
