There was a marvelous gathering for the 12th Annual Lupus LA Orange Ball, with celebrities and guests sporting a touch of orange to show support for the cause. The highlight of the festivities was a special acoustic performance by Natasha Bedingfield. The multi-platinum recording artist (“Touch”) said she was “inspired by the stories of incredible courage that I’ve heard tonight” talking to the tremendously accomplished women who battle their Lupus symptoms every day.
One of those ladies is Grammy-winning songbird and Lupus LA board member Toni Braxton who was there, along with past honoree Paula Abdul. “A true healer, and my dear friend who helped me through pain and my darkest hours,” Paula said about Lupus LA Founder Dr. Daniel Wallace. “He’s a superhero with a stethoscope,” she described.
Also seen in the Beverly Wilshire ballroom were Kellie Martin (Smooch), Karina Smirnoff (Dancing with the Stars), Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Carolyn Hennesy (Cougar Town), Phill Lewis (Suite Life on Deck), Hal Sparks (Lab Rats), Patrick Muldoon (Days of our Lives), Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager), Lisa Gastineau (Gastineau Girls), celebrity chef Sherry Yard, Lupus LA Chairman Adam Selkowitz, and Lupus LA Executive Director Patti Koltnow, among others.
The honorees for the 2012 event were the amazing natural healer Dr. Soram Khalsa getting the Daniel J. Wallace Founders Award; and Dr. Sudhakar Sridharan accepting the Medical Visionary Award for new therapies developed by Pfizer Inc.
