Hollywood, Calif. – Grammy-nominated musical composer and director Stormy Sacks announced that he, and The Friends of Hollywood High School Performing Arts Center, will produce a major fundraiser called “Hooray for Hollywood … High,” on Jan. 10, 2013, 8 p.m. at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. The event will honor Hollywood High School alumnus Carol Burnett, who will be in attendance. She will be honored with the very first Carol Burnett Honor of Distinction Award, presented by Betty White. Major celebrities that attended Hollywood High School along with many of Hollywood’s biggest stars, alumni, and current performing arts students will participate in this incredible evening of entertainment. Each year The Carol Burnett Honor of Distinction Award will be given to a Hollywood High Alum.
Carol Burnett, award-winning actress and best-selling author, is widely recognized by the public and her peers for her work on stage and screen, most notably The Carol Burnett Show. Named in 2007 by TIME magazine as one of the “100 Best Television Shows of All Time,” the show ran for 11 years and received 25 Emmy Awards. Recognized for her comedic and dramatic roles on television, film, and Broadway, Carol has also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is a Kennedy Center honoree. Having penned two New York Times Bestsellers, This Time Together: Laughter and Reflection and her autobiography, One More Time, Carol’s third book, Carrie and Me: A Mother-Daughter Love Story, will be published by Simon and Schuster in April 2013.
“This is a great thrill for me. I am so proud to be a part of this effort to bring the arts to Hollywood High,” Burnett said.
