The Burbank Noon Kiwanis Club is holding their 13th Annual Gala at Lakeside Golf Club on Saturday, August 7th at 6:00 p.m. This event has raised over half a million dollars for local charities, including the Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center, the Boys and Girls Club, Burbank High School Music Programs and Key Club, Habitat for Humanity, the Burbank YMCA, the Boy Scouts, the Burbank Community Dental Clinic, the Sunshine Kids Foundation, and many others. The theme of this year’s Gala is a Hawaiian Luau and will be a tropical delight, with individuals and local business leaders gathering to honor a member of their community who has dedicated himself to serving others.
This year’s gala will honor Kay and memorialize Don Farquhar, both of whom were exemplary in their many, many years of charitable activism and community leadership in our fair city. Don was a recipient of the Silver Star in WWII, a local businessman, a board member at both Providence St. Joseph and Wesley Homes, and a loyal Kiwanian for 57 years.
Kay and Don have a soccer field named in their honor at Don’s alma mater, Redlands University, and both were long-standing members of Burbank First United Methodist Church.
The Reverend Larry L. Stamper, Pastor Emeritus of the church, will be the emcee of this very special evening.
The evening will feature dinner entertainment, live and silent auctions, a reverse opportunity drawing, and more. For more information, contact Marsha Jackson at (818) 767-7756.
