NBC4 Southern California announced today that Crystal Egger will join the station next month as a meteorologist for its morning newscast, “Today in L.A.,” which airs Monday-Friday, 4:30—7 a.m.

Egger comes to NBC4 from The Weather Channel where she served as a meteorologist reporting on national weather forecasts and breaking weather news during a daily, multi-hour live program during Prime-Time.

“Our goal is to keep our viewers prepared for any kind of weather,” said Todd Mokhtari, NBC4 Vice President of News. “Crystal’s skills and in-depth knowledge will be a great addition to our team, and will deliver to our viewers the weather information they need to start their days.”

Prior to The Weather Channel, Egger served as the morning meteorologist at KDVR in Denver, CO, where she covered the powerful 2008 Windsor tornado and earned several regional Emmy nominations for her work on weather specials. Egger was also the weather anchor for the ABC affiliate KIFI in Idaho Falls, ID, as well as anchor, producer, and weather forecaster at Cable News 16 in San Diego, CA.

Egger completed the meteorology program at Mississippi State University with honors and was awarded the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and the National Weather Association Seal of Approval. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California in Santa Barbara.

No stranger to local weather conditions, Egger was born and raised in Southern California. She joins the station in October. Elita Loresca will continue at the station as a meteorologist for NBC4’s weekend edition of “Today in L.A.”
