Magician Misty Lee will cast her spell on the El Portal Theatre this July, with the debut of her “shades of danger”-themed show Bold Magic. Set to a dazzling array of dance and song, the magician blends sass and spectacle to create a fun and immersive experience.
The Burbank native brings with her a unique blend of talent and credits. A frequently featured performer at Hollywood’s historic Magic Castle, Misty can be seen in the club’s various showrooms as well as in its Houdini Séance Chamber. She is the first woman in the Magic Castle’s 50+ year history to hold the title of Staff Séance Medium. She was given the job after her show was attended by the Castle’s co-founder, Milt Larsen.
Misty’s other credits include television like The Dog Whisperer, Hallmark’s Home and Family and Penn and Teller: Fool Us (her episode airs July 27). She has also voiced a long list of characters in various video games and cartoons.
A graduate of Second City Hollywood, Misty’s improv background allows her to captivate with sparkling wit and charm, tempting audiences to join her on the wild side!
Bold Magic will feature Misty Lee’s signature blend of parlor magic, theatrical illusions, and audience participation to create an immersive, enchanting experience for all ages. Audiences will experience split second transformations, see dancers float across the stage and have their minds read by a feather-boa clad honey badger. Witness the beauty of nature, delight your inner child with a hint of danger and laugh until your sides hurt, with this all-inclusive magical performance.
Bold Magic uses illusion and spectacle as a storytelling device to help the audience explore themes of loss, life challenges, rebirth and joy. Showgoers should be aware that some content contains slightly mature themes and may not be suitable for children under 10 years of age.
The cast includes dancers/assistants Brook Brady, Kija Rae, Lennon Hobson and Megan Ashley Cutler.
Viewers can meet Misty’s dancers and creative team in a glimpse behind the scenes of what goes into creating the spectacle in their new online docu-series, Making Magic, presented on Misty Lee’s YouTube Channel.
Los Angeles locals seeking fun, entertaining shows for the whole family will want to catch Misty Lee’s spellbinding performance. “In our technological and skeptical age,” says Misty, “Magic can rekindle wonder. It reminds us we’re just human and the universe still has mysteries.”
