“Holistic” is a word that has been overused so often it has become meaningless, but at theOliveSpringsWellnessCenterinBurbank, holistic is a way of life.
The four-year-old center is designed to be a one-stop destination for wellness. As owner and Doctor of Chiropractic Didier Mascarade says, “We take care of the whole person. Our goal is to treat every person fully, and we work as a team to accomplish that.”
Dr. Mascarade graduated Cum Laude fromClevelandChiropracticCollegeand is board certified in the state ofCalifornia. He treats many athletes with sports injuries and is himself a competitive tennis player. He has also taught at theSanta MonicaMassageSchool.
OliveSpringsWellnessCenter’s team consists of the chiropractor, seven massage therapists, and one acupuncturist. Two of the massage therapists also practice reiki and one specializes in energy-space clearing.
Each of the Center’s seven rooms is an oasis of peace and tranquility, with soothing lighting, music, and decoration. Each offers a fluffy terry robe and sandals. There is also a Jacuzzi room and a quiet room where one can linger and enjoy the stillness. Dr. Mascarade believes a calm, soothing environment is very important in treatments.
One’s experience begins with a consultation with Dr. Mascarade, who makes an assessment and decides whether chiropractic, massage, or acupuncture is called for. All massage therapists are licensed with many years experience. Acupuncturist Veth Javier studied in bothChinaand theU.S.and is licensed to practice herbology. Herbs and supplements are also available for sale.
Javier, who has 20 years experience, also takes a holistic approach to her work. “I look at the body as a whole,” she explains. “I use the balance method which is based on the I Ching.”
“We look for results,” Dr. Mascarade says. “The results I think we should have.”
The Center also accepts accident-related injuries.
“Everybody’s different,” says Dr. Mascarade. “Adjustments should fit the person. The therapist should be sensitive to that and provide understanding and concern as well as quality healthcare.”
