Summer Fun at California Academy of Martial Arts

By Nik Vorter

Kids, Teens, and Adults all stay active while building their self-esteem at California Academy of Martial Arts.

Located in Burbank for over 17 years, California Academy of Martial Arts has classes for kids from ages 3 and up, open 7 days a week. They teach the style of Bruce Lee and Ip Man called “Wing Chun Kung Fu.”

“It’s a realistic style of self-defense that can be used if you’re attacked on the streets or at school by some bullies,” says the Chief Instructor Todd Shawn Tei. Tei is a direct descendant of the Wing Chun style and teaches kids as well as adults.

Tei says, “Now’s a great time to get started and you don’t need any previous Martial Arts experience.”

Many parents have obese children because their kids stay indoors and just sit around watching TV or playing video games. Even home schooled children can gain greatly from our programs because of their lack of social skills.

Our instructors are great motivators and teach people to be consistent in how they are training and eating. Doing something you like to do to stay in shape is always better to keep you motivated than doing something that bores you. Many families join the school and study together so parents can practice with their children at home, Tei says. They also offer Adult/Teen classes as well. Parents should lead by example and sign up too.

The school is currently offering special summer discounts and family plans. Give them a call at (818) 843-7916 or visit California Academy of Martial Arts is located at 521-A N. Hollywood Way in Burbank.
