California sea lions, dolphins, harbor seals, humpback whales, blue whales, and other marine life are abundant and awaiting your visit at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Island Packer Cruises offers scheduled North Shore Anacapa Island wildlife cruises and all-day Whale Watch trips now through this fall.
The Island Wildlife Cruise is three and a half hours and narrated by the ship’s captain as you travel along the high sea cliffs of the craggy shoreline along Anacapa Island. You will encounter excellent sightings of seabirds, harbor seals and sea lions in their natural habitat, plus the opportunity to see whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals and island birds.
The Blue and Humpback Whale Watch trips are happening now through early September. Sightings of these large mammals are amazing and a natural wonder with the average of two or more whales per trip. The “Blues” are the largest of the whales at 33 meters (110 ft) and close to 200 tons.
Naturalists from the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary are onboard as well as Island Packer’s trained crew naturalist. You’ll cruise the waters near Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa Islands and visit the famous Painted Cave on West Santa Cruz Island. Other marine life that may be encountered include pelagic birds, dolphins, sharks, sunfish or mola mola’s, humpbacks, fin and minke whales.
Island Packer Cruises also lands ashore for day trips and for camping on the Channel Islands.
