Imagine being only nine years old and singing opera on The Tonight Show! That is the legacy of singer Eve Marie, a child vocal prodigy who is compared to the legendary Beverly Sills and peformed regularly in the ‘80s, including on the Las Vegas stage alongside Liberace. Today, an adult Eve Marie is focused on pop standards and original ballads, and has just released an impressive debut CD, Waiting For You.
If you favor standards like “You Made Me Love You” and “The Way You Look Tonight” you won’t be disappointed by the faithful treatments rendered here. But her own compositions, particularly the standout title track Waiting For You, that shines. You can easily hear Whitney Houston or Celine Dion covering this dramatic ballad about love’s devotion, but Eve Marie’s own unaffected yet emotional vocal hits all the right notes.
Assisting her with producing, as well as playing on Waiting For You are keyboardist Tony Lufrano, who has worked with Boz Scaggs, Bonnie Raitt, and Huey Lewis; and Garth Webber, a guitarist who has recorded with Miles Davis and Greg Allman. For more information, go to www.evemariesings.com
