Actor, director and producer Carlos Lopez Jr., best known for the reality show Operation Repo, died on June 24. He was found dead of an apparent suicide at his Los Angeles apartment. He was 35.
Lopez appeared in the final seasons of Operation Repo from 2012-2014, which portrayed reenactments of car repossessions in L.A. Other credits included roles on CSI: Cyber and Nickelodeon’s iCarly, as well as parts in films such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He most recently appeared in Tom Cruise’s 2017 film American Made.
A Sacramento native, Lopez was a veteran of the U.S. army. On Instagram, actor Joe Guerrero wrote: “We’re all broken from all this and as much as we love you, we forgive you brother. No one will ever truly understand the thoughts of a war veteran except a person whose been in your shoes.”
He joins an unfortunate group of recent celebrity suicides including designer Kate Spade, TV host Anthony Bourdain, actor Mark Salling (Glee) and rockers Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell.
