Allan Roland Walker passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 22, at the age of 67 in Vista, Calif. Where he resided with his wife. He was born on November 11, 1943 in San Francisco to the late Marjorie Frances Shine and the late Noble Roland Walker.
Allan grew up in Redondo Beach and graduated from Aviation High School in 1961. He joined the Air Force after high school as a B-52 Mechanic and was stationed at Mather Air Force Base near Sacramento. He also served on a tour in Guam. He was Honorably Discharged in 1965 and returned to Manhattan Beach where he started his own family.
In 1966 he married Myra Jo Hart, who also graduated from Aviation High School. They have on daughter and one grandson. Allan also worked for McDonald Douglas until 1968 and then the Redondo Beach City School District for 20 years until moving with his wife to Vista. In 1990, he began a new adventure as a truck driver until 2009 when he and Myra retired.
Allan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and his great big circle of friends. He had a passion for the ocean, which began while growing up surfing in Redondo and Manhattan Beach. He was a member of the Surfrider Foundation and in the last few years became a member of the Fraternal Organization “The Elks.” He was a friend to everyone he came in contact with and touched so many people along his journey.
Allan is survived by his loving wife, Myra of Vista; daughter Lori Walker Harrison and grandson Trevor Harrison of Bakersfield; half siblings Peggy, Paul and Pam Walker.
Allan will be missed by many, and we cherish the special moments we had with him.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held Saturday, December 4, at 11 .m. at The Elks Lodge in Vista.
