The CRA/LA family was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bruce Ackerman, chair of the CRA/LA Board of Commissioners and a beloved friend and colleague. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Cathy, his children David, Michael, Robin and Linda, and his many friends, family members and the people who were fortunate to know him over the years.
Mr. Ackerman joined the Board of Commissioners in October of 2005. His leadership, knowledge, expertise and wisdom will be missed by all of us who had the privilege to work with him, as well as his sense of humor and kindness.
Mr. Ackerman’s accomplishments were wide and many in addition to the contributions he made to CRA/LA and the City of Los Angeles.
He was a recognized expert in the creation of private-public partnerships to enhance economic development of communities and deeply committed to public service and increasing economic opportunities for businesses and residents in the region. He was an exceptional and sought-after conference speaker, meeting facilitator and teacher.
His skills in management, communications, coalition building and legislative and political affairs allowed him to make invaluable contributions to our city. Most recently Mr. Ackerman served as president and chief executive officer of the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley.
He will be missed by all of us at CRA/LA and the entire City family.
*The Tolucan Times extends its deepest sympathy to Mr. Ackerman’s family and friends.
