Winifred Cook, longtime resident of Toluca Lake, passed away at her home on Tuesday night of natural causes; she was 83. Winnie Cook, known affectionately by her family as Emi, was born in Philadelphia, PA. At the age of 15, she moved to the Los Angeles area with her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
She enjoyed a lengthy, successful career with the United States government, which spanned for over 35 years, first with the State Department, then as a senior agent with the U.S. Passport Agency. Miss Cook served tours of duty in Greece, Mexico and Hawaii.
Miss Cook is survived by her brother Winfield Cook (of Los Angeles), brother-in-law Don Fraser, nephews James and Charles Brown, nieces Susan Eagle Mulder, Lisa Eagle Schiveley, Dianne Cohn and Denise Fraser (all of Southern California) and Lynn Doolittle (of Morton, Illinois), as well as several nephews-in-law and great nieces and nephews.
