Walking Cane Defense
Fall session for Oct., Nov., & Dec., 2011, is now open enrollment for classes in Walking Cane Defense for Everyone! This class will cover: the basic selection of a cane, both the advantages/disadvantages; power swinging, thrusting, blocking, and defending; self-defense techniques against weapon attacks; defense from grabs and attacks, tactics, and sequencing; all done in a cooperative learning system; taught by CaneMaster Instructor Toma Rosenzweig. Everyone is welcome to train – all ages, all levels, all ranks, all systems.

Walk for the American Dream
Lace up your sneakers and get ready to walk for families in need of safe and decent housing at Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys’ Third Annual American Dream Walk.
Join our Grand Marshall, LA Dodger great, Steve Garvey; Mark Ballas, award-winning dancer on Dancing with the Stars; the Laker Girls; and many more, as they lead handy citizens, business supporters, and Habitat families on a walk from Pacoima Plaza to the Habitat Pacoima Site. At the Pacoima site, Habitat will hold a key ceremony for new families who are receiving keys to their very first home. Then, walkers will head back to Pacoima Plaza for lunch and an awards celebration with special celebrity entertainment. The total distance: 5K the Habitat way!
All of the funds raised from this event will go back into bettering your own neighborhoods. Funds raised in the San Fernando Valley will go towards the new 12 home community in Sylmar. Funds raised from the Santa Clarita community will go towards the brand new SCV Homes for Heroes program, designed to assist veterans with housing in the Santa Clarita Valley.
