Council District 4’s beautification team did a focused street clean-up in the Koreatown-Wilshire Center area this week. After cleaning storm drains, hauling items dumped on curbs and cleaning up litter, they requested back-up help from the Los Angeles Conservation Corps (LACC), which hauled another 50 bags of litter from along 3rd Street. In keeping with Tom’s belief that clean streets are safe street, the Council Office staff is creating a task force with the Wilshire Center-Koreatown Business Improvement District, the city Department of Sanitation and LACC to do targeted clean-ups of this neighborhood on a regular basis.
The Department of Transportation’s (LADOT) will introduce a new, more secure fare payment method for all its Cityride customers, effective October 1, 2009: Cityride is the City-operated program that enables seniors and persons with disabilities to use transportation services at a substantial discount. The new fare payment method does not affect any of the current program benefits, and Cityride customers will still receive the same amount of credit each quarter.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Helen Bernstein High School in Hollywood. We hope you’ll support this wonderful event.
Toluca Lake drivers will be happy to hear that the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will open the Hollywood Way/Alameda Avenue bridge on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. The Pass Avenue bridge will close September 9, 2009 as part of the construction for the new Hollywood Way on ramp to westbound SR 134. Work is expected to be completed by spring 2010.
