“The Miracle Worker”
By Guy Myers
John Burroughs High School is proud to announce its Spring Mainstage Production of “The Miracle Worker” by William Gibson. Soon to return to Broadway in a revival starring Abigail Breslin, the play is as timely as ever as it explores the human need to communicate. Deaf, blind, and mute, Helen Keller (played by senior Gracie Castillo) is a scared young girl who struggled against those who tried to help her as she lived in a terrifying prison of eternal darkness and silence. In the role made famous by Anne Bancroft, senior Amy Newman plays Annie Sullivan, the governess who attempts to open up the world for Helen by teaching her language. Other cast members include senior Brogan Rad as Captain Keller, the father who has just about given up, and senior Amanda Maltby as Kate Keller, the heartbroken but hopeful mother who is willing to try anything to reach her daughter.
“The Miracle Worker” runs on March 25th, 26th, and 27th at 7:00pm and on March 28th at 2pm. Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for students or senior citizens, and if you bring this article with you to the box office, you can buy two tickets for the price of one!
